Our Story
The Groom
Marc Boulanger
Marc grew up on his parent’s farm in Sundre, Alberta where he went to school and pursued his hockey career.
After hockey, he moved to Calgary, Alberta where he started working as an Investment Banker.
The Bride
Zandra Thomson
Zandra was born in the Philippines, moved to Scotland and then to Calgary, Alberta where she grew up and went to school.
She started her career as a Civil Engineering Technologist and now has her own digital marketing business.
How it started
It was November 17th, 2018 and Zandra was hosting a party at a local bar in Calgary for one of her clients. Her friend Mirissa came to the party with her boyfriend, Adam, and her friend Marc. Marc and Zandra hit it off pretty quick and that night they already had a weekend in Banff planned together.
Fast forward, only a few weeks after they met, Zandra received this text from Marc: “Do you want to go to Mexico tomorrow for a week?”
Zandra said yes and in less than 24 hours they were having the best time at a resort in Cancun. They danced all night every night and fell in love on their spontaneous trip to Mexico. After that trip, they were inseparable and Zandra soon moved into Marc’s apartment where their relationship continued to grow.
This is a photo from the night we met! After the party, Marc and I spent the whole night getting to know each other.
Favourite Memories
Since their first trip to Mexico, they have travelled to Arizona, the Okanagan, and Portland, they’ve been back to Mexico three times and also spend weekends in Canmore and Banff.
As you probably know, Marc is a huge sports fan so you can always expect a game to be on at their house. And when they’re not watching sports or travelling, you can find them golfing together, hanging out with Charlie, their puppy, hosting games night, eating at their favourite restaurants or exploring new things in and around Calgary!
The Proposal
Marc proposed to Zandra on March 11th, 2022!
“We were on our regular nightly walk to the dog park by our house. It has a beautiful view of the city lights at night and while we were ‘taking a picture’, Marc got on one knee asked me to marry him!
It was so special and it was the best day of my life so far!!!”
After over 3 years together, we can’t wait to celebrate with you!
